DSG Aboriginal Sport and Health Sponsorship for Events, Equipment and Sports Teams
Deadly Sport Gippsland has a pool of money available for the Aboriginal communities in Gippsland to conduct sporting events and activities from 1 July 2016 to 30 July 2017.
GippSport and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services recognise that sport is a great platform for community engagement in Aboriginal communities. This funding program will provide financial resources to sporting events and activities to ensure high quality projects can continue to engage the community in physical activity, while also providing a mechanism for engaging the community in healthy lifestyles social marketing campaigns.
This funding program is open for applications and will be assessed on the following dates:
- Friday 29 July 2016
- Friday 26 August 2016
- Friday 30 September 2016
- Friday 28 October 2016
- Friday 25 November 2016
** Further funding rounds will be subject to available funds.
Funding is subject to the allocation of available funds for any given period. Applications must be made on the application form provided. The success of an application is not dependent on any matching cash contribution from the applicant.
Successful applicants must adhere to the five principles of The Healthy Food Charter.

DSG Indigenous Round Funds for 2016
Deadly Sport Gippsland have available funds for Indigenous Rounds to be held in GIPPSLAND during July 2016. Funding of up to $500 is available to assist with covering a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony or a cultural activity such as a dance group. If you are planning a bigger event check out our ‘Aboriginal Sport and health Sponsorship’ below. The Indigenous Round Funding closes on 13 May 2016. Individual Support & Grants
If it is sport specific, check with your local club or State Sport Association for assistance they may have for your activity, event or even assistance with fees. Many Club’s and SSA’s now provide support to community to assist with fees or can offer payment plans. Let us know or your local sports committee if you need help.
Elite Indigenous Travel and Accommodation Assistance Program (EITAAP) – National
Funding is available for athletes, coaches, managers or officials to assist with out-of-pocket travel and accommodation expenses when attending eligible national championships or international competitions. Visit website for more information.
VicTalent – State (not Aboriginal specific)
Victalent provides a $500 travel assistance grant to community sport and recreation organisations in rural and regional Victoria to assist athletes, coaches, officials and teams with the travel costs of engaging in training and competition. Visit website.
Generally for not-for-profit community organisations to run events, purchase equipment, and run community engagement activities. Check out your local Council for more information.
